Preschool Classes
Curriculum and Schedule
At Messiah Preschool we learn through play! All 3 of our classes include play-based learning and hands-on activities with an appropriate increase of academic rigor as the students advance in age/class. Our curriculum is theme-based and changes monthly.
Schedule:
Free Play/Centers : Each day begins with free play, allowing students to organically build peer relationships and exercise imagination. Students also have the opportunity to engage in rotating center activities that include math, science, art and play doh.
Circle Time: This is the most heavily academic time of the day. Students review the Pledge of Allegiance, weather, letters, numbers, days of the week, months of the year and listen to a book that introduce the concepts they will work with during Activity Time.
Table Activities: Students engage in theme based academic and art activities the correspond the book read during Circle Time. These activities may be in the form of a game, a sensory activity or art.
Snack -students bring an individual snack of their choice and we provide a drink.
Group Play - On a nice day, group play may be spent on the playground otherwise this time is spent playing more structured games within the classroom to practice turn-taking and following directions.
